Class Notes 11/29

Today in class we went over the homework from last class (adding and subtracting of decimals). After going over the homework we moved onto our next lesson, multiplying decimals.

After the lesson we did an activity using decimal grids and colored pencils to help show what happens to the product when you multiply a decimal and a whole number along with what happens to the product when multiplying two decimals.

Homework Due Thursday 12/1: Pg. 124-125 #13, 15, 17, 21, 23, 49, 50
                                                  Read 3-6 and 3-7

Class Notes 11/3

Today was a great day in class. We covered a lot of material but I thought everyone did a great job of staying on task. We covered Sections 2-5, 2-6, 2-7, AND 2-8. These sections showed us how to solve equations that had addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

What we learned today is that all of these equations can be solved using the inverse operations.

For instance an addition equation can be solved using subtraction, a subtraction equation can be solved using addition, because addition and subtraction are inverse operations.

The same thing can be said for multiplication and division.

Homework Due Monday 11/7: 4 problems for each side of the two handouts (meaning 4 problems of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)

**This homework is optional and will not be counted against you if you don't do it. I forgot it was a no homework weekend when I assigned it. The TEST will still be on Wednesday.**

  • We will have a chapter 2 test on Wednesday 11/9.

Class Notes 11/1

Today in class we went over the last homework that was turned in last week.

After going over the homework we covered the next section of the book which covered equations and solutions. We looked at many examples of equations and how both sides of an equation must equal each other in order for the equation to be true.

After going over the class notes we started group work which turned into the homework.

Homework due Wed. 11/3: Page 68-69 #8-20 (evens), 34-45 (all).
Read section 2-5 and section 2-6
