Class Notes 3/30

Today in class we reviewed similar objects and how we find a missing length. After the review we went over section 7.5, which was Indirect Measurement.

Homework: Finish the handout if you didn't finish it in class (Skip #7, or try for fun). Then read section 7.7 and 7.8 and list three things (total) from the two sections.

Class Notes 3/24

Today in class we went over our fractions quiz and then went on to section 7.4 (Similar Figures). We worked on a couple of worksheets in class that helped us see which sides of objects are similar and also we worked on how to find the value of missing sides of similar objects.

Homework: Read section 7.5 over the long weekend.

Class Notes 3/16

Today in class we starting covering Chapter 7 (Proportions and Rates). We covered section 7.1 and 7.2 today.

Homework due Friday: finish the handout you started in class.

Also the announced test for Tuesday of next week on Fractions has been changed to a quiz. The quiz will cover Fraction addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Class Notes 3/14

Today in class we covered dividing by fractions. We learned that in this section in order to divide by fractions we must first find the reciprocal or multiplicative inverse of a fraction and then actually multiply the number.

Homework: Finish dividing fraction handout.

Class Notes 3/9

Today in class we learned how to multiply mixed numbers. After we did our lesson on mixed numbers we took our weekly quiz.

Homework for the weekend: Read Section 5.9

Class Notes 3/7

Today in class we covered fraction multiplication by whole numbers and then multiplication by fractions.

There will be a mini-quiz on Wednesday covering what we learned today.

Homework due 3/9: Finish worksheet given in class.

Today we took our fraction addition and subtraction quiz.

Homework for the weekend is to read section 5-6 and 5-7.

Class Notes 3/1

Today in class we continued our work with subtracting fractions where the second fraction was bigger than the first. We discussed what types of strategies you can use to attack each problem.

After our discussion we did some group work in a packet.

For Homework Due 3/3: Do three problems from each page in the pack (Meaning you should do 9 total). Make sure I can tell which packets you did for homework.

Also there will be a mini-quiz on Thursday to bring together the past few sections on adding and subtracting fractions.
